The NCSL is a outdoor shelf level point to point G scale battery
powered, radio controlled layout modeling the Philadelphia area
(RDG Co-Reading Terminal, PRR Kensington (Keno) Branch, and
PRSL Wildwood Jct, Palermo, Ocean City and other locations
reminiscent of my growing up in the Kensington neighborhood of
Philadelphia and going to the Shore in the ‘40’s-60’s. Then,
retiring (again) to Cape May in the ‘90’s where I worked as a
NORAC Conductor on the CMSL when we had eight (8) daily
trains between the County Zoo and Cape May City.

Al & Bobbie Schmidt

We started out layout in 2000 at the suggestion of Bill Keller. We have no basement, so all of our trains are outside. G-Scale was out only option.

Our first train was the Bachmann Blue Comet. Our first layout was a figure 8 with an over/under crossing that wrapped around a white pine and a cedar. We then added a back and forth up along the roses.

A year after that had the white pine removed.  Then we relocated the back and forth to within the loop at the cedar and added a large loop up and around the roses. We also added a smaller loop where the white pine had been. The figure 8 remained but was elevated to be over the large and small loops.

We gave up on the turnouts and sidings due to the problems keeping them clear of needles, leaves and dirt. We use the Aristo Train Engineer to control the loops and back and forth.

Ed Ramming

I started in 1994 to do G Scale trains and could only do indoor.
The engines are LGB, Piko and Bachmann.
I run all of the trains DCC based on 24 Volts to the track and all have been converted to LED lights.  The DCC lets me turn on and off all of the features with a hand control.
I am also able to run several trains at the same time running what is know as Consist.
I can be reached at 856-663-7366 or by email at eramming@comcast.net.
Here are some photos of my layout:
